Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is a captivating story for all ages. It’s a timeless classic you will be sure not to forget long after the epic series ends.

Harry Potter lives in a tiny cupboard under the stairs with his miserable Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon, and cousin Dudley. His parents passed away when he was just a baby under mysterious circumstances. But on his eleventh birthday, he receives a letter revealing something astounding – that he’s a wizard! He’s invited to study at the enchanting Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There he meets his two best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Together they embark on magical mischief and adventures. Yet, something is not quite right and Harry’s about to find out.

One particular moment in the novel is quite memorable. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were snooping around the castle one night. Hermione becomes worried they’ll get caught so she tells Harry and Ron, “…I’m going to bed before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed, or worse…expelled!” This was truly a comedic moment that resonated with me because I realized how much I once related to Hermione despite the absurdity of her remark.

I recommend this book to anyone who revels in being transported to a world of magic and unsurpassed creativity. This is the perfect novel (and series) for fans of fantasy. You will be eagerly awaiting your own letter inviting you to Hogwarts.
