James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl

Join 7-year old James Henry Trotter and his oversized insect friends on their brilliant journey aboard a giant peach!

At 4 years old, James’ parents are eaten by a rhinoceros and he is sent away to live with his horrible Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker. On one especially miserable day with his Aunts, James is given some magic green crystals by a cooky man in his Aunts’ garden. He accidentally drops these crystals by the peach tree in the garden. Suddenly, a peach begins to grow on the tree. The peach grows bigger and bigger until it is a big as a house. Later in the day, James finds a tunnel into the centre of this peach. Inside the pit of the peach is where James Henry Trotter meets his giant new friends and the fun begins!

My favourite part of this book was the magic and humour on every page. You will meet larger than life characters with colourful personalities. You will see a sad 7-year old become the exuberant leader of an eclectic group of travellers, guiding them through land, sea and sky. If you are a fan of adventure and laughing out loud, this is the book for you!
