Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt

Tuck Everlasting is an intriguing children’s novel written by Natalie Babbitt. In this novel, we are introduced to a young girl, Winnie, who is desperate to get the freedom she has always dreamed of and so she decides to run away to chase that dream. On the search to find her freedom she finds something else, rather someone else– Jesse Tuck. Jesse, who appeared to be a young boy, was drinking from a spring located on Winnie’s family’s property when Winnie first noticed him. Winnie later finds out an extraordinary discovery- drinking from the spring gives eternal life, which was the case for the Tuck family. In the midst of this discovery, a mysterious man in a yellow suit interferes with Winnie and the Tuck family. Winnie wrestles with the difficult decision of whether to stay with the Tuck family or return back home where her freedom would be no where to be found. In particular, the part that stood out to me was when the Tuck family explained their story to Winnie, since it was the point in the story where Winnie finally understands the reasons for their odd actions. If you are interested in fantasy books with interesting twists, this book is for you!
